NCCA FAITH & UNITY COMMISSION PRE-NCCA FORUM EVENT

Theme: 
‘100 Years of the Ecumenical Movement – Opening Horizons for the 21st Century’

Key elements:
•    Marking the 100th anniversary of the Edinburgh International Missionary Conference by looking to what we can carry forward and what is changing
•    Exploring various approaches, including some enacted expression of new methodologies
•    Identifying prospects & signs of hope, new methodologies and challenges
•    Connecting with the last day of the Centre for Ecumenical Studies’ course
(event to be repeated on Saturday 17 July at UTC in Parramatta with similar speakers)
•    Venue – Australian Centre for Christianity & Culture
•    Keynote speaker – Dr.John Gibaut (WCC Faith & Order Commission)
•    Respondents agreed:
      – Robert Gribben (esp re Global Christian Forum developments)
-    Joan Hendriks (Indigenous perspective)
-    Shane Clifton (Pentecostal reflections)

  9 am        Worship
        Introductions
  9.30 am    Looking back on 100 years
– John Gibaut (30 mins)
(with responses from Joan Hendriks & Shane Clifton (10 mins each) – what does this mean to a.Indigenous and b.Pentecostals?)
10.45 am    refreshment break
11.15 am    Opening horizons

12.30 pm    Lunch
1.30 pm    Interactive dialogue (seeking to explore and model new methodology)
                       (15 mins) followed by shared reflection on what was seen and heard
2.30 pm    refreshment break
2.45 pm    Panel discussion (with keynote speaker and respondents)
                       - beginning with conversation for a few minutes between the speakers
                       - opening up to questions and reflections from others
